Kate Mertz - Lead Vocals, Percussion
Kate was involved in chorus since the age of ten, but was so wrapped up in sports her whole life that she really didn't realize she could actually sing until she was seventeen or eighteen. In her early twenties, she was a member of "Hog Leg", a classic rock cover band that played around the Lehigh Valley scene. Later, she sang across the tri-state area with "Johnny Rock It", an original rock-a-billy/pop band, signed with Soundmind Music Works. Kate is involved with many charitable organizations and collaborates with several artists in our area. She is also working on advanced degrees in both Biology and Psychology. Kate joined us in July, 2013 and in 2014 had the distinction of being nominated for an Industry Ballot LVMA for Outstanding Overall Performer. She was the only female among the nominees, which included our friends James Supra, Scott Marshall and Tommy Zito. In 2015, Kate was nominated as Oustanding Female Vocalist.

 Ed Clauss - Drums, Vocals
Ed first picked up a pair of drumsticks in 1970. He met Scott in high school in 1977 and formed “Dionysus” which disbanded in 1982. After high school, Ed gave up drumming for “life events” and a DJ career that spanned over twenty years. Ed & Scott reconnected in 2008 thanks to Facebook, and found all the other original members of Dionysus as well. He recorded an original song he had written in high school – “Leadin' Me On” - with these musicians in Philadelphia in 2009 before disbanding again. That breakup forged the building blocks of That Being Said. TBS currently plays "LMO" at shows. Ed's drumming can also be heard on a couple tracks of Perry Costello's "A Barefoot Life" album. He listens to almost all genres of music, but his favorites include The Tubes, Def Leppard and Steely Dan. In 2015, he was nominated for an LVMA as Outstanding Drummer/Percussionist.  Ed is a founding member of That Being Said.

Brandon "Ro" Remp - Keyboards, Guitars, Vocals
Brandon (Ro) Remp is a native of Allentown and has been involved in music all his life. In high school, he focused all his extra time into music being a part of the William Allen H.S. Chorale, Band, Orchestra, and participating in musicals. Brandon has a Music Education degree from Moravian College where he and former band mate, Jen Rarick became friends. Brandon is currently the Director of Choral Activities and the Director of the Chorale at William Allen High School. Jen asked Ro to fill in for her while away from the band. He was such a good fit, we asked him to be a permanent member!

Scott Guman - Bass Guitar, Vocals
Scott has been playing guitar and bass since he  was thirteen years old.  He got into serious playing in high school when he joined "Dionysus" with Ed, which ended up playing two dates at the Christmas City Fair (precursor to MusikFest) in 1981.  He kept up with his playing all through college and the years after, while raising his five boys (The GU Crew) with wife Lori. He has been playing professionally now for years, and has been honored with a Lehigh Valley Music Award nomination for Outstanding Acoustic Guitarist in 2013 and Outstanding Bassist in 2015/2016. He is a huge Rush fan, but listens to almost any kind of music. In 2015 and 2016, he was nominated for an LVMA as Outstanding Bass Guitarist. Scott is a founding member of That Being Said.

Mike Anthus - Lead Guitars
A life-long resident of the Lehigh Valley, Mike started playing ukelele at the tender age of eleven, and soon after picked up his first guitar. He has played with a number of local cover bands through the years including Apogee and Peripheral Vision (the Olympus Corporate band) to name a few. Mike counts Brian May of Queen as one of his greatest influences, along with the electric blues of Joe Bonamassa and local favorite Craig Thatcher. Mike joined the band in 2010.
